Elevate Your Social Media Game With These Tips
Social media is a game-changer for marketing. For everything from identifying to targeting your key audience(s), collecting engagement metrics, and noticing trends, it’s the go-to tool.
In 2022, few businesses can get away with a good marketing strategy that doesn’t incorporate social media. If you’re just getting started, try these three top social media marketing tips for beginners!
Number 1: Quality over Quantity
When it comes to having a social media presence for your business, you’re better off with less platforms and better content. If you try to get on all the platforms as you’re starting out, you won’t be able to deliver regular, high quality content.
This could risk discrediting your brand/product and harming your online reputation. Start with one or two platforms and get used to their unique audiences and functioning. Only expand when you have the capacity to do so without compromising on quality.
If you’re unsure which platforms to start with, the big three come to mind: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. If you have to choose between them at the beginning, identify the main demographics for each platform and choose based on your target audience.
Number 2: Plan, plan, plan your social media!
The best way to stay consistent with your social media marketing is to plan it ahead of time. Set up a social media calendar so you know what content is being pushed when.
This will also help you to avoid frequent repeated content, which can put off users. It’ll also ensure that each post will be high quality, as you’ll have put aside enough time to create it. A rushed last-minute post is fine when you’re pressed for time, but won’t do you any favours as a marketing strategy.
Avoid planning too far ahead, however. We would recommend planning your content a month ahead – this will help you stay organised and consistent without losing sight of new trends as they develop.
Number 3: Automation, baby!
Lastly, don’t forget that many social media platforms give you the option to create and schedule your content ahead of time. If you’re unsure how to do this, we can help!
This automates a large part of the process and will save you lots of time. It’ll also help you to avoid missing deadlines, ideal posting timeframes, and special events such as bank holidays.
Automating your posting is also key if you have a large social media presence. If you’re on more than two or three platforms, going into each one to manually upload and send out a post throughout the day, every day, will take up 100% of your time. It’s also very inefficient.
This is especially true if you work with a global audience – no one enjoys time difference maths at the best of times, but definitely not when you’re in a rush to post content!
